Reef Dives

Bouganvillea

Emperor's Garden

A very colourful area like a well cultivated garden fit for royalty.

Plate, staghorn and lace coral cascade along the side of this reef amongst others in a plethora of colour and shapes. Great photography dive and a hot spring bubbling up from the ocean floor provides something different.

Gotham City (Ollies Lolly)

Named for it's batfish which accompany you on your dive.  A very colourful and popular reef area which rises to within 6 metres of the surface.

A large variaty of marine life abounds from shark, barracuda and dog-tooth tuna, to the occasional turtle and manta ray.

On the southern side of the reef, colourful soft corals grow, with many feather stars and coral formations on the top of this reef.  Numerous small coral fish adds to the enjoyment of this dive.

Kathleen Reef

The final resting place of the Coastal Trader "Kathleen" which sat on top of the reef until Cyclone Uma rooled her off the edge of the reef in 1987. This is a deep dive for experienced divers and photographers. Some current can be expected here.

Rock Pools

Excellent shallow coral dive. Many swim-thoughs with healthy colourful walls and white sandy gutters. Plentiful coral fish around.

A nice swim though to the mooring leads you out to the edge of the reef at 15m where you can cruise either way and zig-zag your way back to the mooring where a beautiful giant clam rests.

Excellent dive for photographers with good visibility up to 40m.

The Abyss (Mele 1)

Drop down from the dive boat into 6 metres of coral and reef fish. Swim past the edge and you are on the edge of the Abyss, a vertical drop down to 60m plus.

A deep dive to the gorgonian fans at 40m or a leisurly dive at 25m around the wall.  An occasional reef-shark or moray eel may be seen.

The top of this reef is excellent with many gutters running at all angles, teeming with coral reef fish.

Max Depth: 25m
Bottom Time: 40min
Safety Stop: 3min @ 5m

Cathedral

Ever been to the Vatican?  No? Then come and see "The Cathedral."

This outstanding dive is located right at the end of Pango point.  A cavern bores right into the end of the point for about 20 metres and opens out into a rock pool on land.  There is a gash in the top of the caren allowing sunlight to stream in at midday like light shining through a cathedral window onto the "altar" below.

Paradise Cove

A dive site towards the end of Pango Point.  Its characterised by a gently sloping coral garden with wide sandy guts.  This is the place to go to see many different anenomefish, butterflyfish and angels.

Parasise Cove is where we do many of our 'Intro' dives.

Twin Bommies

A great dive for the beginner and the experienced diver alike. This one is reliable for schools of big and small fish and features two bommies (Coral formation filled with small grottos) packed full of marine life.  Another interesting feature is the big dropoff which is the place to spot barracuda schools and even the occasional turtle.

At night the place comes alive as the day shift settles in and the night shift comes out.  A resident turtle is best spotted at this time.

Max Depth: 18m

Bottom Time: 40min
